How was the Firenze Comics born?
Firenze Comics is the brainchild of Edoardo Zeloni Magelli and Matteo Simoni.
The idea was born on a Sunday in May (May 2016), while Edoardo and Matteo returned home from a water polo match together with coach Daniele Santini and other teammates.
Matteo, as president of Azione Cosplay Prato, often spoke of his experiences in the comics and cosplay world. That particular Sunday there was a very interesting debate. The theme was: “marketing strategies of the comics industry fairs”.
After analyzing the most common mistakes, a spontaneous question arose:
“But why don’t we do the Firenze Comics?”
After a few seconds of absolute silence: “Let’s do it!”
Immediately afterwards the organizer Luca Mariotti of the local MDA was involved, with whom we were already organizing the first fair in the world “See Now Buy Now”: Trend
That is how the first event in Florence related to the world of Comics, Cosplay and Gaming was born.
In other words, a fair full of shows, attractions, cosplay and comics. But also publishing houses, collectors, merchandising, videogames, games, card tournaments, Japanese cuisine and youtubers.
In addition to this, it was also the first fair in the world to accept cryptocurrency payments such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ether and Ducatus.
In conclusion, this project of ours was our first Exit, which took place in April 2017.
